How to choose the right jewel?

Don’t you know which jewellery to choose? If you don’t know which ring, necklace, earring or bracelet to choose, read these tips: they will help you choose the right jewellery for your occasion.

How often in the morning do you put on the usual necklace you particularly like? Or do you always wear the same ring? Not to mention earrings: they should match the shape of your face and your clothes. Jewellery is very different from one another, and before you wear or buy one (or give it as a gift), it’s a good idea to take a few notes.

Decide what you want to get from the jewellery

Do you want it in the centre of the stage? Do you think you’ll get compliments? Or should it be an almost invisible device that goes with the look but doesn’t attract attention? In the first case, for example, an oversized necklace should be seen. Or very large earrings: circles or pendants. But beware, the necklace and earrings can be highlighted, but they can also reveal an aspect of your body. That’s why it’s important to choose a piece of jewellery carefully.

Each piece of jewellery is a message for others

Every piece of jewellery has the right moment to be worn. For example, a necklace that’s too bulky can be fun for a night on the town with friends or partners, but it’s not suitable for the office or business meetings unless your office is particularly tolerant or populated by creative people who like to break the rules. In general, in the workplace, small and traditional jewellery is more popular for both engagement and engagement parties. Choosing a piece of jewellery thus becomes a matter of self-affirmation and self-confidence.

If you have to buy a piece of jewellery, think about how long it will last.

The robustness and quality of the workmanship and materials are not always the same and can determine the number of times you wear them. A piece of jewellery that costs a few dozen euros will hardly shine and will be distorted by use, unless you keep it closed in a drawer. At the same time, however, you should not wear a very precious gemstone continuously, as stones and metal will wear out or scratch. The best thing is to choose a piece of jewellery for different occasions.

How much do you want to spend?

This is not a trivial question: people who go to a jewellery store often have no idea how much they need or how much they are willing to pay. As a result, the buyer leaves the shop with something different from what he had imagined. Before choosing a piece of jewellery, take a look on the internet and get an idea.

Before buying it, it is a good idea to try on the jewellery.

It is difficult for a jeweller, unless it is crazy, to rent you necklaces and earrings. But at least in the shop, don’t be in a hurry and ask to wear what you like. Look carefully at the mirror, calmly, and imagine wearing other costumes than the ones you wear at that time.

Handmade jewellery or mass-produced products, such as those of famous brands?

There are pros and cons. High-quality handmade jewellery requires more time and is therefore more expensive for the same materials used. On the other hand, they can be more original. If it’s not a large jewellery house, you may discover some imperfections once you’ve bought it. On the contrary, choosing a mass-produced piece of jewellery has a lower price and a uniform standard: no surprises. They are also easier to resell. But, of course, much less original.
